Rescue package in 1965 took over the old Wedgwood & Co company. In the modernisation attempted to claim a heritage of production of traditional patterns like "Asiatic Pheasants" but effectively redesigned the pattern, introduced new bodies to their ceramics and produced dark versions in blue and other colours. Sold well in both the American and Continental markets. Unfortunately the company did not attract the following that their predecessors enjoyed and were swallowed up by the Wedgwood Group, who continue to operate the company, anonymously as the subsidiary Unicorn Pottery. The new owners continue to include the new version of "Asiatic Pheasants" in their catalogue.
