| Family business founded by Henry Wileman and carried on by his sons James and Charles
at the Foley China Works from 1864. Charles took a less active part in the business as time went on and
the partnership was dissolved in 1869. The firm worked in earthenwares and in chinas for which they became
more more famous when it was restyled Wileman & Co in 1892 producing the famous Shelley pottery in the
C20th. Their earthenware range included the popular patterns including "Asiatic Pheasants" although there are no marks to suggest that after the restyling and launch of the Shelley trademark that this was continued. |
